From the initial design and manufacturing process to the packaging and delivery, we proudly ensure a seamless and environmentally conscious journey, weaving a golden thread of sustainability throughout.
The Cards
Fun Fact: we spent more time carefully selecting who would get to print our beautiful cards than we did designing them!
We had very exacting requirements and were delighted to find a UK-based partner that fit, where sustainable printing is their speciality. They are committed to growing their environmental impact policy and source all of their sustainable printer paper from a single
distributor, which they offset to make 125% carbon neutral. In 2021 they offset an impressive 34.26 tonnes of CO2e.
The card used is 100% recyclable and made from Chlorine Free pulp (ECF) plus carries Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification.
The plant-based inks used are vegan-friendly and vegetable-derived which not only results in cruelty-free screen printing but also improves the recycling process and reduces print pollution rates.
In addition, because the printing company keep up to date with cutting-edge print tech, all of their printers have eco friendly printing settings that reduce the amount of energy required for each of their print runs.
The Box
Next up is the box! Another labour of love to find the perfect eco-friendly solution. Initially we wanted the box printed, but couldn't get the perfect blend of sustainability, UK-Manufacture and eco-friendly inks so we decided to source the boxes and labels separately to ensure we remained true to our eco values.
We hit jackpot when we found a supplier who makes these boxes up in Scotland!
The paper and board used to craft these boxes are both 100% recyclable. In addition they are made from Chlorine Free pulp (ECF) and also hold the esteemed Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification.
FSC certification is held as the hallmark of responsible forest management; meaning that timber is harvested in a responsible manner, this ensures the protection of not just of the forests, but also the wildlife and people who call these habitats home.
The Labels
Did you know that we picked up our first batch of labels in person, as the printers are so local to us?
Based locally with a lovely team, the labels are printed with excellent sustainability credentials.
The paper used for the labels is made from 100% post-consumer recycled paper and comes with a high environmental profile in addition to be being CO2 neutral.
The adhesive (BIOTAK® XS10) is made from renewable materials
(non-fossil fuel derived) and certified 100% biodegradable, compostable and CO2 neutral.
The label has EU Ecolabel certification and the adhesive is certified to the EU compostable packaging standard EN13432.
The Packaging
It's not just the production of our eco-friendly affirmation cards that has been scrutinised. Every element of sustainably packing up your order has been carefully assessed.
The tissue paper used to wrap your card set, for protection in transit, is biodegradable, compostable and made from recycled paper.
Our postage labels are phenol-free and the stickers we use are made from recycled paper.
The Eco-Padded Mailers we use were created as an eco-friendly alternative to traditional lined plastic padded mailers. They are 100% recyclable, 100% biodegradable, plastic-free and made of sustainable-sourced materials. Sourced from a proud B-Corp Certified company who are partners of 1% For The Planet, a charity raising awareness to endangered animals, where 1% of each sale is donated towards environmental charities.
And last but not least, our primary courier is Royal Mail, as recommended by the Ethical Consumer magazine.
